Week 14: Huskers

We will see you back in Kinnick next year Huskers, as we go for 6 straight!  Enjoy the long offseason with no bowl prep!  Love, The Hawkeyes.

Oh, and for beating Nebraska (again) on the last second kick, Duncan is now on scholarship for his Senior season.  Now how did he not win the Lou Groza award, (the Georgia kick who won it - missed field goals in both games they lost, which kept them out of the playoff) I will never know.

Holiday Bowl: University of Southern California.

We lead of course with the passing of two men who helped to put Iowa football where it is today.  On December 7th we lost Bump Elliot, the longtime AD at Iowa, who was the man who hired Hayden Fry in 1979.  And then late in the evening on December 17, news broke that Hayden had passed away after a long battle with cancer, at age 90.  The scene on Twitter was amazing that night as Hawkeye fans from all over began posting videos of Fry and his Iowa teams.  Kirk had a tough time getting through the first press conference after Fry’s death, and no wonder.  It was Fry that hired the young Ferentz in 1981 to help with the offense line.  And in 2018 Kirk passed Hayden for most wins in Iowa history.
