Week 5: Middle Tennessee

Well, that was certainly the proper way to end the non-con portion of the season, with a clinical dispatch of an overmatched foe.  And in doing so, giving the next team we play a whole lot of things to think about.  Worry about.

Consider, 644 total yards for Iowa. That is the all time high under Kirk.  Hawks got there by rushing for 351 yards - that was Young, 11 for 131 (career high), and a long fo 52.  Goodson 12 for 97, a long a 27.  Sargent 14 for 91 a long of 18 and 1 TD.  ISM 2 for 28 and a TD, on the sweep to the far side for a 14 yard rushing TD for him.  Even the back up QB Petras scored his 1st Iowa TD but not via his arm, via the QB sneak.  He even competed 3 or 4 passes for 17 yards, playing most of the 4th, he got to run the regular offense, which will do him very well if needed in the games ahead.

The Hawkeye defense just gave up 80 on the ground and 136 in the air, but never near the goal line did the Raiders get.
