Well we are quite giddy here at TES, where for the first time in 20 seasons, our Washington Capitals will head to the Stanley Cup final! To date, they have paid back the former Rangers coach, the hated Penguins, and the Bolts for their sweep of us in 2011, now just the Cup left to claim. It all starts on Monday night, 8:00 pm, on NBC, as the Caps head west to Las Vegas to face the Black Knights.
A 1974 expansion team meets a 2017 expansion team, and while the Knights seemed to kind of breeze their way through the West, the have not run into a Tom Wilson check or an Ovi one timer yet. Or Burakovsky getting behind the defense. The Caps have gotten production from all 4 lines this postseason, they will need to keep it going to bring home the best hardware in sports.
In other news, the Dodgers have kind of been scuffeling along to this point, but they are only 3.5 games back, and they should have ace Kershaw back this week. Time for another Dodger 50 game run to get back into 1st in the West, en route to the 6th consecutive West title.
Oh yes, and as I type this, we are now 99 days, 0 hours, and 21 minutes away from Hawkeye Football, 2018 edition. Which also means 99 days away from my birthday. Sigh.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend, as summer kicks off here in the USA.
And of course, thank you to those that have paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy, that allow us to focus on watching sporting events all year long, and not worry about things that some others around the world have to deal with every day.
