 Week 11: Michigan

As ABC takes us into Kinnick, we see the fans all in black, but the team is not wearing the all-black uniforms first worn for the Rodent night game last year.  Maybe for the Huskers to wrap up the season?

The lead - Iowa Michigan, 1985.  QB Harbaugh, then we see Hayden calling the timeout, then Houghtlin cements his place in Hawkeye lore with the kick to give #1 Iowa the 12-10 win over #2 Michigan.

Now back to the present,  it’s a cool night in Iowa City, perfect for the players.  The booth points out that Michigan starts seniors almost all over the lineup, and then we see Harbaugh out there, bundled up, throwing the ball to someone off camera.

We hear how the Hawks were embarrassed the week before at Happy Valley, and the booth does wonder if this might be a trap game, with the Ohio State game looming for Michigan.  The booth also points out that Clemson was dropped by Pitt (on a field goal with about 8 seconds left), and in fact I tweet ‘number 2 goes down, is that foreshadowing for tonight’s games?’  We would learn in a few hours!

And then back to the studio (ABC, kick not until 8:12 pm), we see again the Pitt kick to sink Clemson, and they say that Michigan is ‘on notice.’  Now back to Kinnick.

On the field, the big American flag is out there, and for this weekend, we get to hear the Iowa Marching Band play the National Anthem.  It’s Veterans weekend, or Armistice Day, if you are on the other side of the big pond.
