Week 11: Minnesota

We lead with this:

(no play by play this week, your scribe is clocking many extra hours at the office)

So that was a game that was much closer than both I, and I think many Hawkeye fans, thought it would be.  Of course, the Rodents played both Michigan and Ohio State very close, so they are better than their record would indicate.

But the Hawks would again find a way to put the game away in the 4th quarter, and as a result, we are now 10-0 for the first time in program history.  A history that dates back to 1889, when football became a varsity sport at Iowa.  Our first game against the Rodents, our oldest rival, came just two years later.

Most importantly, our season of destiny is still in our hands.  One big step can be take this Saturday.  But first, let’s recap the Rodent defeat.

We will start with the the offense, and why note - besides the best start   ever, the most wins by an Iowa QB ever to start his career (now 11 and counting), the Hawks also became the first Iowa team to score 30 or more points in 4 consecutive Big Ten games.
