Week 10: Indiana

As we head to Bloomington, we see Kirk leading the Hawks off of the bus.  Then the usual pregame banter, were the booth points out that the Hawks just need to win 3 of the last 4 to clinch a spot in the Big Ten title game.

And then we hear that Sudfeld has been waiting for this game since the Hawks knocked him out for the season in the win last year.

Then as we go to the commercial break, out to the parking lot, where all we see are tailgating Hawkeyes.  Sure, there must of been some Hoosiers out there.  A few, anyway.

Now we are back to the field, Iowa has won the toss and taken the ball, per usual.

King catches the kickoff at the 4 - he starts up the near hash, across the 10, the 15, the 20, then he cuts it left and crosses the 25, the 30, and he is finally caught and downed at the 34!  1st and 10 Hawkeyes.

C.J. brings out the Iowa offense and they huddle up.  Now to the line, he is under center, Wadley also behind him, two wideouts on the right side.  At the line, he steps back and calls out a play change, or maybe his protection plan.  He snaps it, turns, hands it to Wadley, he tries off tackle - left, and soon the hole closes and he only picks up 1.  2nd and 9 at the Iowa 35.

Now the Hawks come out in the I formation - C.J. has two wideouts to the right of the line, and one to the left.  He snaps it, drops, is looking downfield, then he turns and hands it to Wadley, the draw play, he takes it across the 35, then he sharply cuts it left at about the 38, and he gets through the hole and he is in the clear!!! Across the 45, the 50, the 40, and no Hoosiers are gaining ground, across the 20, the 10, TOUCHDOWN IOWA!!!!  65 yards, and just 50 seconds into the game, Koehn comes in and makes it 7-0 Hawkeyes!!!

Koehn lands his kickoff about 8 yards deep, just inside the near sideline, touchback, no return.  Indiana from the 25, 1st and 10.

Indiana comes out in the pistol formation, with two wideouts to the left, and one to the right.  Sudfeld snaps it, runs a quasi read/option, hands it to Howard, and he goes right up the middle to pick up 6 before the Hawks wrap him up.  2nd and 4.

The Hoosiers to the same formation.  The ball is snapped, he fakes the handoff, then fires it short to the far side, caught, and across the yellow line, before Mabin can shove him out.  8 yards, 1st down Hoosiers at their 39.

Now Sudfeld is alone in the gun, with two wideouts on each side.  He snaps it, drops, then quickly fires it over the middle, but to who we are not sure, as Taylor gets his hand on it but can’t pick it off.  2nd and 10.

We are seeing the replay as the Hoosiers snap the ball, it’s a handoff to Howard, and he goes straight ahead and picks up 12 yards, 1st down Indiana at the Iowa 49.

But then we see a flag is on the field, and King is nailed for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, as the tackle was being made, we see him shove a Hoosier away from the pile.  Eh, maybe, but that is 15 yards, and a Hoosier 1st down at the Iowa 34.
