The Eternal Season - Wednesday April 24th

Greetings from the TES headquarters!

Tonight, as we watch the Dodgers play the Mets, we are still very giddy over seeing our Capitals climb out of the cellar to claim the NHL Southeast Division title, with the 5-3 win over the Jets Tuesday night.  This was also the last game against the SE that the Caps will play, as in the 2013-2014 season, the NHL will realign the teams into new divisions.  The Caps will now be playing the Blue Shirts, Devils, Isles, Flyers, Pens, Blue Jackets, and Hurricanes.  For we here in Gotham, the chance at around 10 Caps visits to NYC every year (and with the Isles moving to Brooklyn, easy access to all three local venues).  It should help the NHL build the fan base, and perhaps bring a new golden era to this game we love.  Also of note - every team will face every other team in the league each season.  A great chance for the fans of each franchise to see all the stars in the league.

But that is next year, and while the Caps have two games left this season, they will be in 3rd place in the East no matter what happens.  As they sit now, the first round series will be against the Isles, but things are still in flux over the last few days of the season.  The Stanley Cup playoffs kick off next Tuesday night.  And we do not have to work the day job Tuesday, so we will be good and ready when the puck drops! #becauseitsthecup

Also of note, the Iowa Football team is nearly done with spring ball.  The experts have no expectations for the 2013 Iowa team.  There are many questions still to be answered - namely who will be behind center, who will be the 3rd and 4th receivers, and who will step up on the D line to restore their place among the nation's best.  We know something about 3 senior linebackers, a typical strong Iowa O line, and the prospects of three healthy but very different running backs.

Obviously, we will have much more to write about Iowa Football before the season kicks off on August 31st.  And we will have more optimism than the experts, to be sure!

Now back to baseball - Dodgers lead 1-0 in the bottom of the 3rd.  Go Dodgers!!!

One last thing - we have grabbed the @eternalseason Twitter tag (could not put 'The' in front of it, only 15 characters allowed).  Not sure yet how we will use it - but we will let you know when we here at TES figure it out.

Have a good night, and enjoy the games!
