Last Week – Pitt:

Hello again Hawkeye friends!  After watching football for as many years as I have, you tend to find yourself thinking you have seen just about everything.  That after seeing a game for a couple hours, you know how it will end.  It’s a good thing this is college football, with new players every year, players wanting to make their memories when their moment arrives.  So it was, after about 47 minutes of game action last week.

The Eternal Season - Wednesday September 21st

Hello TES Family!  We have made it past the hump, the weekend begins to come into view!

Checking in via the mobile Blogger app tonight, spent the day working in the week 4 Game Notes, and needed a break from the normal keyboard. Nice thing about the mobile app, you can blog from your favorite watering hole!  Hello from Vero Uptown.

Conference change news of the day.  The PAC 12 says no to expansion for now. Word today that the Paper Tigers could be the 2nd team to the SEC with A&M.  Sure there will be more news in the days ahead, so stay tuned.

In baseball, the Dodgers might not be playing in the post season, but they have a chance to knock the Giants out, which is almost as good as making it.  Game 1 of there series went to Kershaw last night, his 20th win of the season, while leading the NL in strikeouts and MLB in era.  Game 2 tonight at 10:00.  Go Dodgers!

Locally things are heating up with the Sox collapse and Rays surge.  Makes for a great last week of baseball!

TES will return tomorrow with the Week 4 Game Notes, and then you know the weekend is just a day away!  Have a good night!

The Eternal Season - Monday September 19th

Good Evening TES Friends!

Monday evening!  Just like that, we are on to Tuesday.  Be gone, Monday!

But hang around just long enough to give us another good game for Monday Night Football.  With those 8:30 starts, the games often do the job of killing off Monday and ending after the start of Tuesday.  Which for some of us is fine, but a major disservice to kids on the east coast.

No college football today, but news none the less.  In both Texas and Oklahoma, the regents have allowed the presidents go ahead with discussions with the PAC 12.  Also news today that the schools left behind behind by the possible exodus to the PAC 12 could merge with what is left of the Big East now that Pitt and Cuse are gone.  Stay tuned, things are likely to break very quickly in the conference shuffle!

Just wrapped up re-viewing and note taking the Pitt game.  9+ pages of hand written, translates to...we'll see on Thursday night!  Great to see it again when drinking only green tee, was having to numb the pain for 3 quarters on Saturday.  Should be no such problems this week.

The Eternal Season - Sunday September 18th

Good Evening Friends!

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend with friends and family.  I know, Monday lurks, but the good news is that 24 hours from now, it will be over and done with.

And what a weekend it was.  Nothing short of the biggest comeback in Iowa Football history to beat Pitt with a 4th quarter that will live long in the memory of Hawkeye Nation.  Was that the kind of win to propel the young team into greater things as the season goes along?  Perhaps, much more about that in the weekly game notes that will be out Thursday night!

And now, it looks like the Sunday afternoon is going to end with Dallas taking out the Niners in OT!  A day that included the Titans knocking off the Ravens, and Cam Newton again tossing for more than 400 yards but dropping to 0-2 where it counts.  Tonight, a juicy game as Michael Vick returns to Atlanta with the Eagles, at 8:20 on NBC.  Then tomorrow, the Rams face the Giants in MNF, 8:30, on ESPN.  One of those teams will be 0-2, and the playoff dreams will be on life-support already.

It's done!  Dallas wins with the chip shot field goal, rallying from 10 down in the 4th to claim it in OT, 27-24.
