The Eternal Season - Friday September 2nd

Good Morning TES Friends!  It has begun!

And so, very short and sweet today.  Now in the middle of my birthday/football celebration weekend, so won't be here at the TES command center much.  In fact, off to do something new today - the Electric Zoo.  A little different for a rock and roll boy, to be sure!

Well the Big Ten is off to a good start with Wisconsin's thrashing of UNLV.  Tonight, the Spartans host Youngstown State at 7:30 on the BTN.  Then at 8:00, TCU visits Baylor on ESPN.  Upset alert for the Frogs.

And then - Hawkeye Football at high noon tomorrow!!!  Followed by many worthwhile games for Big Ten types, see TES from Wednesday for details.

Ok friends, that is it!  TES will be back Sunday to recap the glorious first Saturday of college football. Hope your weekend gets off to a good start!  New link in the listings below!

The Eternal Season - Tuesday August 30th

Good Evening, TES Friends!

Tuesday evening, meaning tomorrow is Hump Day, once clear of that, the weekend comes into view! And WHAT a weekend it is!  Football starting Thursday night!

A light sporting day here at TES, we had the US Open on in the background while working on our Hawkeye Football Game Notes.  FYI for long time readers, those will go out via email and be posted on the blog tomorrow.  3 days, 15 hours, and 40 minutes until the Hawks take the field!

Because today is a light sports day, I wanted to take a moment to say hello to my readers and thank you.  My stats tell me that I have had repeat viewings in the Netherlands, China, Russia, and the UK, besides my friends here in the States.  Could you guys do me a favor?  Leave a comment to the blog, let me know who you are, where you are, and what your love of sports entails.  Especially interested to hear from anyone overseas, as I wonder how a sports fan fills their calendar when a nation doesn't have as many pro or collegiate seasons as we have here.  Or maybe they do, I'm just not aware of major college sports outside of North America.  What sports and teams do you love?

And if you have any suggestions on how you think The Eternal Season could be different or better, by all means, you can leave those comments as well!

That's it for tonight!  Tomorrow the Game Notes will be posted in the evening, that's a big enough post you won't want me to type anything else, so TES will be back in its regular form on Thursday.  Have a wonderful night - or day, if you are on the other side of the globe!

The Eternal Season - Monday August 29th

Good Evening TES Friends!  Evening, that means, the Monday is over!

Hope the week has started out well for you.  Your Monday night has football, baseball, soccer, and tennis for your viewing pleasure.

To start with, more preseason football tonight, thanks to Irene which pushed this game back from Saturday afternoon.  It's the Jets v. Giants from the newly named Met Life Stadium.  This game is on NFL Network nationwide, and on NBC 4 here in the local market.  7:00 pm eastern. That will wrap up week 3 of the NFL preseason, next week the starters will go most of the way as the NFL season kicks off a week from Thursday.  Today is also the day that the first round of roster cut-downs occurs, so it's fried nerves time for obvious 3rd team and below players.

Monday night gives us Phillies at Reds on ESPN at 7:00, with 12 other games on your local stations.  The Dodgers fell a run short in their effort to sweep Colorado out of town, San Diego rolls into LA tonight to begin a 3 game set.

The Eternal Season - Sunday August 28th

Good Afternoon TES Friends!

All clear here in our part of Gotham, in the end it was just like a big rain storm with heavier than usual winds.  Got a chance to walk around the neighborhood early this afternoon, some puddles at the corners, but that was about the only evidence that Irene had been here.  Well, that and the stores that are closed today, that would not be normally.

Because this was the first 'hurricane' that TES has lived through, there wasn't much in the way of sports watching this weekend - basically flipping around the channels, watching the radar,  watching pointless local news reporters, on location, pointing out that 'it's raining.'  When we were at the computer, it was to work on week 1 of the 2011 Hawkeye Game Notes.  5 days, 19 hours, and counting.
