The Eternal Season - Wednesday June 29th

Good Morning TES Friends!

Wednesday - at lunch time, the week is half over.  We can get there...we can get there.

Another daytime filled with sporting action, over in England it looks like Federer is about to be taken to a 5th by Tsonga, this after Roger being up 2-love.  It's Nadal-Fish later, there appears to be some question on that foot after all, and we also have the latest hope for the UK, Murray, v. Lopez.  The men's final four will be set at day's end.  ESPN2 and ESPN3.

Across the Channel in Germany, Norway, one of the favorites, has just won, and the match of the day involves Brazil v. Australia.  The Brazil ladies have yet to hoist the Cup, for a country with such a rich soccer heritage, there is cause for worry should things start slowly today.  12:15 eastern on ESPN.

The Eternal Season - Tuesday June 28th

Good Morning!

With these Europe based tennis and soccer events, it's not just that we have games every day, but all day long as well!  Darn!

But we lead today with the Dodgers.  Apparently, somewhere in their heads, the filing told them that a corner had been turned, the end was in sight.  And so, they went out and laid a season high 25 hits and 15 runs on the Twinkies.  All while tossing a 4-hit shutout.  I was in error in my tweet last night, that was the first time since 1930 that every Dodger starter had a hit, rbi, and run scored.  The last time the Dodgers shut out the Twins in Minnesota?  October 14, 1965 - Game 7 of the 1965 World Series, Dodgers 2, Twins 0, Koufax (the original), a 3-hitter.  Bums look to make it three straight wins tonight, on a day that has 16 games, as Cubs and Giants have a double header.  Go Cubs!

The Eternal Season - Monday June 27th

Hello Again TES Friends!

It's Monday. Hoping coffee/donuts/whatever is helping you get your week kick started, and that you had an enjoyable weekend.

We start today with baseball, and breaking news that the Dodgers have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware. There have been official statements about everything continuing for the staff, players, fans, with no disruption. It's almost certain now that the June 30th payroll can't be met, I'm not sure how this filing will impact the seizure by MLB when that happens. Dodger fans are hoping that on July 1st, they will awaken to news that the Garvey group (or others, including Mark Cuban) have begun the process to buy the team.

And to go with this positive news, they actually won a game last night, finally salvaging one from the not-LA Angels, a 3-2 win. The Bums had to score 2 in the bottom of the 9th to do it. Perhaps the kind of win to finally get things moving in the right direction? They are off to Golden Rodent land today for a series against the Twins, who are sub .500 at home. A good chance to put a winning streak together.
