The Eternal Season - Saturday June 25th

Good Afternoon Friends!

It seems the drugs have finally been able to get a bit of control over my head, so I can have the Kleenex box more than 18 inches away from me as I type today.  Hoping the start of your weekend has been going well!

As it's Saturday, we lead with another installment of 2011 Hawkeye Football freshmen.  This week, defensive back/tailback Torrey Campbell, #21, out of Naples Florida.  This clip comes to us from GoHawks Tv.

It's hard to get football off the mind these days, as we are now getting verbal commits from 2012 Hawkeye freshmen.  Assuming they hold up and do sign come February,  we'll be seeing their highlight videos next summer.

The Eternal Season - Friday June 24th

Hello Again TES Friends!

Long time, no type.  Was working so much the past few days I just crashed when it was done, and barely had a chance to watch any sports!  Summer has arrived, and with it, a nice head cold for me - which, it seems, is going around everywhere.  Hoping your summer is off to a better start than mine!

So, what has been going on the past few days? Well, those winter sports may not be playing, but they are in motion.  The NBA Draft was last night, while over in the NHL, they are busy signing free agents, making trades, and their draft begins tonight - 7:00 pm, on Versus.  And while the NBA is just days away from what seems a certain lockout, the NHL has announced that the 2011-2012 season will open with a triple header on October 6.  Yes, for a sports fan like me, the Eternal Season goes on and on, and in the modern world, there really is very little in terms of an off-season for the pro sports.

The Eternal Season - Sunday June 19th

Good Evening TES Friends!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend with friends and family - sad that they go so fast, and Monday has to lurk again right around that corner.

In the sporting world, this weekend was primarily about the US Open, and when it came to drama, it was sorely lacking this time around.  Tiger who?  Yes, 22 year old Rory McIlroy completed the rare wire to wire win, with no late hole drama, as happened in the Masters.  Nope, in fact, his 16 under score won it by 8 strokes, and the score was 4 better than Tiger's romp back in 2000. 12 new US Open and Congressional records were set by Rory with his performance.  Hard to say if Tiger can overcome the injuries of late - if not, we may be seeing what is next already.

Inter-league baseball was the other major weekend highlight, two good games in Wrigley got the hyper-attention of the media, the rubber match tween the Yanks and Cubs is going on now.  The Dodgers finally broke their 5 game losing streak, getting a run in the bottom of the 8th to beat Houston 1-0 this afternoon.  Finally looks like there will be a resolution to the ownership mess soon - Dodger Nation is hoping that it leads to someone else.  Tomorrow the Tigers come to Chavez Ravine, so LA gets a taste of inter-league round 2.
