The Eternal Season - Friday June 17th

Good Morning TES Fans!

It's looking like the rain over my head has moved on out of here, hoping your day is looking up as well!

A pretty quiet night on the sports front, so we shall lead with our weekly installment of new Hawkeye football players.  This week, linebacker Quinton Alston #23.  This video is from his junior year, so he should be big bigger and faster when we see him this fall.

Well, that's one way for the Bums not to lose, they didn't play last night!  Astros tonight and this weekend, while the rest of MLB is on inter-league weekend #2.  Seems the biggest series are Yankees at Wrigley and the battle of Missouri.  The hurlers struck again last night, as Cliff Lee tossed a 2-hitter on the Marlins.  Will they have the advantage again this weekend against hitters that don't know them as well?

In the US Open, 22 year old Rory McIlroy had a 3 stroke lead after his 6 under round yesterday, and halfway through his round today, he has pushed that to 10 under.  In this tourney, the best ever after two days?  -9.  This lead might be big enough to overcome any Sunday demons for the youngster.

Sources are now saying that some NFL owners are pushing back at the apparent momentum; concerned that the negotiations at present are not in their favor.  The NFL has instructed all the owners to prepare to stay an extra day (in Chicago) next week, presumably for some backroom deal making within the billionaires.  It's June 17 - do you know where your football is?

Ok friends, that's it for today - hoping that you can get done, get out of there, and get your weekend started!

The love of sports is shared across the generations, and there are few things as fun as debating the merits of certain players, strategies, and team histories with other, opposing sports nuts.  If you are an all around sports fan, feel free to join the ride, and please comment/vent whenever you feel you need to.
